Pink Eye Valentine’s Day

For the last few days Trevor has been excited for Valentine’s Day and the party at school. He has been signing his valentines, making a few special ones by hand, and decorating rooms with what few Valentine’s decorations we have. When we sent him off to school he was stoked and looked fine, but mid-morning I got a call from him while on the way home from school saying he has pink eye and has to come home for a few days. What a crummy surprise and he was going to miss the party. Thinking hard how to make the best of this tough situation, I ran out at lunch an bought a few balloons, candy, and some glow sticks, then on the way home from work I called Pizza Hut and had them deliver some of our favorite pizzas. We spent the evening together making valentines for each other and had a good time. He said he had a good day and I felt relieved. On his way to bed he says “Do you guys know why I got pink eye and not a black eye?”, we looked puzzled, and he replied “because it’s Valentine’s Day!” He’s a funny kid and we are so glad we have him!
